Located in pristine settings, yet easily accessible, Samaritan Hospital was founded in 1969 as a 70 bedded hospital providing basic medical services to the local community. In the course of the next four decades it grew into a 200 bedded general hospital catering to the health needs of the rural and semi- urban population, at the same time attracting patients from far and wide as it’s fame spread across the State, through the pioneering work in the field of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology.
Taking cue from the inspiring words of our Lord Jesus Christ, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”, the hospital is today poised to provide, not only quality hospital based medical services but also appropriate community based services, for the furtherance of the vision of the founders.
Today with 21 clinical and non clinical departments, a panel of dedicated medical professionals, nurses, and paramedical support team, the hospital provides care for over 1,50,000 outpatients and over 15,000 inpatients every year.
Samaritan hospital is a teaching hospital with a College of Nursing offering Graduate and Post Graduate degree programs and an Institute of Allied Medical Sciences offering Degree and Diploma courses in Medical Laboratory Technology attached to it.

Vision & Mission
Holistic healing as an expression of God’s reign
The vision and mission of the religious sisters of the congregation of the ‘Sisters of the Destitute’ is reflected in the very conception of Samaritan Hospital. The congregation which had its humble beginning in 1927, is involved in the care of the destitute and the sick by setting up hospitals, homes for the destitute, homes for the terminally ill and homes for rehabilitation of the mentally and physically challenged.
To share compassionate love of Christ through care, respect and commitment
The inspiration to establish the hospital came from Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Valliarumpeth, late Director of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Destitute and shared by the then Superior General Rev. Sr. Savio and former Superior General Sr. Rose Mary.
